They wanted a traditional wedding, but we were not a traditional couple. We wanted bagpipes and kilts, but also pagan rituals. We wanted a three tier cake topped with a fondant sculpture of a dragon. We wanted our groomsmen to look like vampires and our bridesmaids to look like werewolves. And above all, we wanted the entire playlist to be composed of songs from bands like Birthday Massacre and Nightwish.

Oh, and we were also gay.

But Dolores reminded him that it would only make him feel worse, so he soaked in warm water and lotion and pretended that he was submerged in quicksand, and all the mosquitos were drowning in that quicksand. Little bastards could choke on mud, for all he was concerned. What was the point of them, anyway?

Lens by Belinda Roddie Garth had broken his glasses. The lens was chipped, the bridge splintered, and the nosepads absolutely missing. It looked as though he had run a car over them, and perhaps he had, though he wouldn't admit as such. "It'll cost another five hundred out of pocket to replace the fuckers," he groaned.
